The fuel valve on the fuel bottle has started to leak, and I think I need to replace the 'O' ring - can't find a reference for the spec of 'O' ring I need. It's not in the supplied Service Parts Kit or Parts List as far as I can see. Help appreciated on tracking one down. UK based. Thanks in advance.
I would just take it apart and measure it Most rings are measured at thickness of it...and the inside width. I would just replace it with a viton ring
Check closely where it screws into the pump housing, those are horrible for cracking. NOS ones are hard to find, even those are usually cracked as well. I slightly V out the crack, heat treat the plastic to oxidize the surface, and use an epoxy from West Systems called G-Flex to repair the crack. I use thin G-Flex on the initial coat, then use their thicker once the thin becomes tacky.
Thanks for the suggestions. The plastic looks intact. A kit of viton o-rings is expensive, even more if I buy a metric set and find they don't fit !
Mine were standard size, I'd have to pull one apart tomorrow to check the size tho as I'm on the road and won't have access to them until I get home. If your in no hurry and no one else answers I can let you know tomorrow or Weds what size you need
That would be terrific and very kind. O-rings here (UK) are generally metric, although imperial sizes can be found. I suspect the Coleman would use imperial. Thank you very much.
I grabbed one that leaked when I tested it after picking it up last year and my o-ring kit- it is a 01 size ring I've used in mine. I just put one in this one and no leaks. This pump hasn't cracked along the pump threads like my other on has, but it has cracked where the brass insert for the hose is installed. My other one was also cracked here as well but niether have ever leaked as the insert is sealed where it meets the pump body but I will seal this crack as well to prevent future issues.
Thanks very much for this. I have come to learn that o-ring sizes are a bit of a minefield. What is a "01" size in one kit may not be the same in another, particularly when US standard/imperial sizes are different to metric. I think it's going to be trial and error.
@mickmassie - I found the seller sealsuppliesuk on ebay to be very helpful. If you send them an o-ring they’ll measure it to ensure you get an exact match. Obviously the price of the stamp adds a relatively large amount to the cost of the o-ring, but if you post the measurements here others can benefit in the future. -R
US standard 01 is: Cross section 0.040 Inside Diameter 0.029 Outside Diameter 0.109 Edit: If you have any friends that do auto AC repair the small TXV seal ring will also fit tho it has a slightly larger cross section and OD. It adds a bit of drag to the valve but works fine.
Thanks R. I'll give them a go. This backs up what @oldfox66 says. British O-Ring Size Chart | BS British Standard O-Ring Sizes
The original o-ring is in the centre, roughly 6mm outside diameter. I went to two hardware shops yesterday - the left and right rings were the best they could do- neither work.
I have a complete service parts kit and it has three small o-rings. The one closest to what's in your photo is a -006 with a nominal 1/4" OD and 1/16" cross-section. It is also brown instead of black, suggesting Viton material. The other two are black and look like -007 and a -008. The bottle o-rings measure to -022 dims. Just putting this here in case someone goes searching.
