This collapsible “discus” style stove was gathered in my most recent mainland travels: Marked “SELUS” on three sides: No hole apparent in the pump tube cap: Unmarked burner: No stamping on the base: The NRV is of conventional style and had what appeared to be a HDPE seal. It was patent and no exchange of pip was necessary. The burner showed outward signs of having been fired. It had a pristine, unfired cloaca when dismantled to replace the seal. Overall I’m thinking that this is an unfired, relatively recent production. First firing revealed a loose nipple, but subsequent firing was successful: It has the “feel” of being a well constructed stove and performs well. Thanks Rodger
all, @Rodger Willows, my late thank you for posting. i join members with fondness for discus stoves. as far as i know yours, since 2004, is the 1st Solus discus posted/seen... now, within 3 mos a 2nd example emerges : SELUS N.37/38 credit to @Bebo, thank you. His is NOS, an excellent reference example and provided us with the "Solus No 37 /38" revelation (do we presume 37 = roarer, 38= silent?). Rodger, thank you for your thorough detail eg: RW's "Marked “SELUS” on three sides" Bebo's appears to have same markings RW's "No hole apparent in the pump tube cap" Bebo's has hole in pump cap RW's "unmarked burner" (w/pristine cloaca) Bebo's crisscross stamped; SELUS & arabic script (not bold marking, could be easy to miss) Bebo's feet are steel. RW's feet likely steel also? I mention steel feet having found in gallery 3 Albeille french discus examples, very similar, noting the 3 have brass feet (all 3 are silent btw). possibly from same factory?? archivist's Abeille techguy's Abeille Stove Ben Hall's Abeille Silent Burner tags @techguy_58 , @Ben Hall
@OMC I’ve recently delved in the depths of my storage and retrieved my SELUS… The “legs” are steel, but the “feet” are definitely brass.… I hope this helps?
thank you Rodger, brass feet, interesting. An aside: as i commented above i had already searched Selus... & Abeille. I did not see the following post during those searches??? French SELUS collapsible stove, unfired but ruined Only now i see ^^^ @Radler had in 2015 shared observation of the Selus - Abellie similarities. A late THANK YOU, and credit goes to Radler . With the countless cross-over productions with EU classic stoves, i dunno but it is certainly plausible the 2 came from same factory. Radler's btw, has steel feet (hole in pump cap) and is also a NOS excellent reference.
