I've had this one since the 1980's, a late friend of mine used to go to Weller & Dufties surplus sales and bought some for the scout group he was involved with, came complete with the cooking tins and the leather strap. This one was one of the spares he had, so I bought it. It's dated 1988 and made by JF&P, the tins were made by SJ & L Fellows Ltd, also dated 1988. Unfortunately, it got tucked away in the garage and forgotten until a few years ago when I found it and decided to get it working again. Fortunately, time hadn't done it's worst, tank was still rust free and dry, so replaced the seals and also, after having found this excellent website, decided to take John @presscall 's advice and fitted the needle and jet from an Optimus 111, which has improved the burn no end. It had been left so long the leather strap had disintegrated, so had to have another one made, using some photos from an internet search, as a guide. Other than that, didn't need much cleaning, and makes a good looking and practical outfit. Tim
@Tim Read Stove looks in great condition. @presscall ’s mod is a good one - your flame shot looks great. Pharael.
Hi @Pharael , considering it was nearly new when I got it, then forgotton for over 20 years, it is. Works very well as you can see:-
@Pharael thanks. I've also got three other Pyrex percolators, but with the glass handles, the 9, 6 and 4 cup ones. Although when filling the standard British mug with coffee, you only get half the number it says on the percolator
@Tim Read Glad that modification worked, Tim. To recap, aware that my unused example was overfuelling, I examined the stove’s jet and found it was oversized, passing too much fuel, and said, John
@presscall , Thank you John, for sharing your observation and the fix for it. It's people like you, and all the others like you, that make this site what it is, enabling the rest of us to continue to enjoy this wonderful hobby. Tim
@Tim Read Thanks Tim. I’m sure your enthusiasm, experience and knowledge in the rifle shooting (target) sphere does much the same. John
