An Optimus 535A twin regulated alcohol burner in military green.

This Optimus label, lies like a cheap watch!

    IMG_1437.jpeg

‘SWEDEN’ is stamped at both ends.

The two holes either end of the 535A are utilised when fitting the top rail.

    IMG_1434.jpeg

‘Ship-shape ready’ with the top rail fitted.

    IMG_1452.jpeg

A more than ample sized fuel tank (3.8 pints/2.2 litres) fitted with an SRV filler cap.

    IMG_1448.jpeg

Underside view - showing the burner blanking cap, clipped to the supporting bar and the four clips which secure the two enamelled steel gratings in place.

No date stamp on the blanking cap clip…not unexpected though as this is an Optimus and not a Primus model.

Both outer caps have two integral clips which fit into corresponding slots situated in the bottom of the burner bell.

    IMG_1446.jpeg

    IMG_1442.jpeg

One of the outer cap’s clips, shown here, located into the bottom of burner bell. No chance therefore of an outer cap going ‘walk-about’ when out on the high seas.

    IMG_1440.jpeg

As this is the alcohol model, directly under the outer cap is the air tube (air restrictor).

    IMG_1444.jpeg

With the air tube removed, the 12-hole inner cap.

    IMG_1443.jpeg

One of the two 3-piece ‘cap’ set for the 535A.

    IMG_1445.jpeg

    Accoutrements.

    IMG_1454.jpeg

Optimus instructions - Only mentions using kero/paraffin - not alcohol. These instructions also mention a (burner) ‘lighter’ - which this 535A does not have fitted.

Figures, given the kero/paraffin label which Optimus applied in error to this alcohol model.

@Pharael - Nice marine stove you have there. All you need is a boat to go with it. Looking through the Stove Gallery it seems that the green color is a military version.

    @z1ulike - Thanks Ben.

Yes, this would be the Swedish Military version of the 535A.

    Appreciate that, thank you.

It is a useful stove for sure - the 535A is currently being cooked on in our kitchen. Hadn’t used the stove for quite some time. Flames have cleaned up with use…no more orange…now just pure blue. :content: I have a Primus 535 (kero) and will be posting that into the SRG soon, but for now, enjoying using the 535A.

That is another useful feature of this stove, if you are not keen on the odour of paraffin when cooking indoors, the spirit version is virtually odour free once running, the only draw back is the cost

From memory of my last purchase of ethanol - £2.79 per litre.
