Tools of Coventry - When I first heard that the wife and I thought it sounded like a heavy metal band that would open up for Pantera, Rammstein, or Sisters of Mercy...haha... I would totally wear a Tools of Coventry shirt to their concert if they ever come to the USA....even if its just a stove mfg. and not a metal concert. Speaking of that...these stoves never are seen here in USA. Never. Having steep prices and even steeper shipping from the UK I delegated this stove to the "would be nice to have but unless I go to England and buy one in person its this or getting new brakes on the car" category. Un-obtainable. A recent post by another member here saying he was seeing a few with decent prices pop up online I decided to look...thinking this was going to be cheap prices but astronomical shipping costs...then this stove popped up with a very decent price. Looking at the listing...it was in the USA. Shocker. I put my phone down and went to sleep...and woke up to check on it again thinking it would be gone. Walking around the house mumbling about it the wife just said "get the damned thing...you have been talking about it since yesterday. Some messages popping up back and forth with the seller apparently he was using it with a camping rig he has or had and it was last run about 8 years ago and fueled for photos of it running. Nice guy even included a Serbian oil can that fits just under the grate. Didn't take too much to get going but it did candle when trying to shut off so took the entire burner apart and just brass brush the diesel carbon off. Sprayed some carb cleaner on a paper towel to get dried fuel off the interior of the case and magic erasers to clean. Adjusted a slightly tilted burner to make the fuel knob clear the case a little better. Ran like a bat out of hell on kerosene...simple clean blue flame. My impressions of the stove. WOW. I work in the aerospace industry and can tell that this stove went through a few redlines on the drawings to get the best ideas from a bunch of other known working designs to make this great stove. Much like an Optimus 111 in the running of it, but having a fuel inlet cap flush with the inside of the tank makes this very easy to fuel and empty out by simply pouring the fuel from the tank. Wide burner has no hot spots...windscreen locks in place...this is one of the best thought out stoves I have from a perspective of use. Very heavy (now understand the shipping costs) and thick stainless steel construction. Amazing stove. Mine is from 1996, made by Tools of Coventry. I am a big fan of this stove.
