Well my brother in law strikes again and found me a really rusty meva in really rough shape in Bratislava Slovakia (as well as a weird gas mask)
The meva was ... Well... How do I explain it... It was a little nightmare.
The wick looked good until I tried to take it out and found that whomever had it before tried to cram a new wick into the charred remains of the old one and made a wick with rope and a coat hanger piece.. Very thick and was a knife fight to get out.
Valve was ok but had the typical euro style string with graphite paste on it... That was replaced.
It leaked fuel from the connection between the tank and burner...so used high heat tape to seal it over using locktite... That works for me and never had a problem with it.
The paint came off with about 5 minutes of citric acid and revealing a lot of spider web like rust.. you can't see it here but this was greenish blue and repainted brown...uhhhh ok?

So after priming with high heat ceramic primer I shot a blue I like that's another high heat enamel I was happy with it and started doing my coffee pot tests (see if it has any issues with a 10 cup post of coffee on it)

The results were not bad but not great. It seemed to be too far from the pot for the flames to lick the pot
Looking into the forum I spotted that these stoves normally come with a flame ring. Interesting. @presscall even made one himself. Well if he can do it I can do it...

Looking around my junk I spotted some junk Indian made flame rings for a no1 style 2 pint roarer... They didn't exactly fit. But did when put upside down.

This was very much better. It keeps the flame focused on the pot...
So there you have it .. Bent up a flame ring to fit. Now doing more tests...

    Really nice restoration!

The repurposing of the flame ring concentrates the flame really well.

Updated. The flame ring I made worked but did wobble a little on the burner and as I like this stove I decided to work this one again and made a better ring for it with the help of a Optimus 111 flame ring I had spare and some silent caps for a Phoebus 625 I ordered from China and used the curve inside the cap to shape the burner ring until it fit perfectly.
I don't have the spare steel ring like @presscall made his from but this works perfectly and was for me a lot easier to do.

Interesting mod. But it's unclear to me what you did, did you braze the 2 halves or bend it?

    Thank you for sharing.
Only read the original post now and like the result you had.
I will try that method on one of my stoves.

@ajvuik oh I used the silent cap to shape the other burner ring to fit correctly. These stoves almost always are missing the ring so most of them are burned on the top of the canister. A couple of people have made something that works to replace it and with mine it was the easiest to do with tools most people have at home

@Andrew thanks a lot man. Yeah I tend to use my stoves a lot making coffee and this one was smelling more like burning paint than coffee. On this stove it really helped and seems to be close to the original that used to come with it Hope yours works out well
