It is a privilege to be able to present this excellent example of a Primus No.15 after it arrived at the Newark gathering and exchanged hands there; another piece of 'treasure from Scotland'. Whilst it has certainly seen use it is in truely first class condition, and, perhaps even more importantly, is still accompanied by all of its original little ancilliaries and accoutrements. So here we go: So far so good. Now a closer look at the 4115 burner: The eagle-eyed will spot the WW2 alcohol burning conversion restrictor tube as an insert surrounding the jet, and also the unusual fine 5-row burner cap. I can't find a positive i/d for that last piece. Next we have the vital, but almost always missing, special servicing tool (pt. no. 1541) and key (part no. 1542), complete with relevant paperwork. Note the absolutely tiny needle insert! And finally, the correct priming meths tin (pt. no. 1754), complete with an original price of 1/3d still on the base!
One thing that I had not appreciated about the No.15, until I had this one in my hands, was that the burner riser is not fixed. It is a detachable taper fitting (part no. 4217), which screws into a female boss in the tank top Not obvious at first glance!
