    Hi All,

I picked up an old Companion safari 1700 and I'm struggling to find a bottle to fit what is already there. I tried getting a new house but 3/8th and 1/4 inch fittings were all a no go.

I know that the old Companion bottles will fit it but they are hard to find. Preferably I'd use a modern swap and go with it just for ease of filling etc.

Any direction would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Conner

    Nice solid stove those.
BCF or similar sell an adaptor from a companion hose to a standard POL fitting although the pressure may be different affecting performance slightly.

Did your stove come with the collapsible stand?

    Regards

    Hi Scot,

Cheers, I took it to BCF and couldn't find any adapted or hose that actually fit onto the stove side. The only fittings were 1/4in and 3/8th in which didn't seem to screw on.

It didn't come with the stand no. But also I found a bottle that's compatible with the current hose. Not sure if anywhere will fill an old bottle for me though. May be unsafe?

    Hi Conner

Can you not just purchase another companion bottle?
I too have been running on old bottles that will soon be empty and are to old to fill,

The POL adapter I meant goes on the gas bottle end of the hose.
To fit standard swap n go bottles
    See image

I have the same stove. I would just get a new gas line made up using your existing fittings. Professionally, not with hose clamps ( hose clamps might not fit under the stove).

I would like to understand your dilemma but am confused by the conversation. The image you first show is the double burner brass assembly and my understanding is that the hoses you have found so far do not fit that brass assembly? Is that correct?

Do you have the hose that fits that assembly (when you got the stove), and at the other end I am presuming it is a standard Companion fitting. If that is the case Bunnings have the BOM (green propane cylinder) fitting that adapts the BOM fitting to a male Companion left hand thread which your original Companion hose would screw straight onto.

Is the problem the hose connection to the brass burner assembly or is it at the cylinder end?

The problem is at the cylinder end, i have the original hose of the stove that is made to go on big cylinders, but i want to use the small green ones, i found a gas regulator that fits on those canisters but my current hose does not fit. Do you have a link for that adapter?

And i actually tried an adapter but i did not work because the stove needs a regulator, i dont know if you understand now, sorry english is not my first language.
This is the current hose that i have and this is the adapter that did not work

Your picture of the stove isnt very good. If the burners have lots of small holes there should not be a regulator. It is designed to work at tank pressure.

Ah I didn't look at the dates on the posts. Anyway @geeves is right there is no regulator.
