Pleased to introduce a real live No.400 to the reference gallery! Not mine but overhauled for the owner who is happy for it to be added here.

Not the best photographic record admittedly after several days of solstice misbehaviour. The top ring and legs were borrowed from other stoves.

    Tank top reverse embossings:

The filler cap is unlike the other two complete male thread types which have come to light so far. Just a plain grip, but surely original?...

Compare with this example from @ROBBO55's No.405 in this thread, of which another intact example is recorded on this site:

Further views of the unique filler cap, the air release has 'PRIMUS' on both sides of the casting:

No date stamp on this tank bottom...

It's on the foot itself, to the right of the pump tube. This is different to @presscall's older No.405, also with detachable legs, which has the date code on the lower tank rim, shown at the bottom of this thread.

Time to fire her up for the first time in decades:

Rocking happily for hours with a crazy thunderstorm overhead. This is one good looking stove!

The steel tank has survived well internally but it will get a thorough tank clean and seal at some point soon to conserve it. It was great fun playing about with such a rare beast, hopefully more will appear out the woodwork in time.

    Nicely fettled

A 400 series is definitely on the wish list, along with a 152 :D
