I received an exciting parcel from the postie today: a lovely blue ‘square’ tinned Optimus 8. here are the photos from the sellers listing: While I have another (pre-8R) 8 I’ve wanted one with the earlier style case for a while (I’m still holding out hope for the aluminium version one day!). This one has the later style fuel cap and the cut outs for the put supports are not reinforced so I believe this to be from the later example of this style of case. I’m sure those with more in depth knowledge will be able to suggest more detailed information? After a sympathetic clean up (sadly and disappointingly a little loose paint on the lid had come off while in transit) I decided to give it a test as is and it fired up beautifully! There was a little tell-tale yellow flame from the control column which I’ve now tightened. So I may well replace the graphite packing and will certainly replace the tank cap seal as a matter of course but I’m very happy with it’s initial run!
