The scum bag Australian Labor Government want to charge us a TAX on what we collect. Has anyone else heard about this ?? It's a GET STUFFED from me if true. Cheers Marko. Pic for notice.
How would they know what you collect? Are you going to be required to submit an inventory or are they going to go from home to home inspecting your belongings. Seems a little intrusive to me.
Some of mine are only worth .49 cents. The ones that didn't fall out of the Canoe when I spilled last year.
Oh bother. This isn't about taxing; it's about change in behavior. I'm glad you mentioned it as it's good to see what might be coming. "We have no use for old things here", and neither should you, seems to be their belief. Your collection is excellent, by the way.
Better send me that Tilly stove before they come and lock you up. I haven’t heard of anything, but then again I’m not up on the latest if we are at war or not and who done who to what.Or the price of a barrel of oil today. I suppose since they had a bum deal trying to snavel all of our guns off us. And since the embarrassment the government has created, the Qld police force needs a special import permit to import every single glock they need, they are trying to go after more easy targeted low hanging fruit. Hope the thought Police aren’t watching.
Then again you're in another place that essentially outlawed private ownership of firearms and got away with that
@Marko57 @Sedgman @barrabruce Re capital gains tax amendment. Upcoming Policy Changes (2027) Valuation Obligations: Proposed structural reforms to Australia's CGT framework mean that asset owners and collectors may need to establish baseline market values for everyday collectibles, art, and rare items. Indexation and Rates: Changes slated to take effect from July 1, 2027, plan to replace traditional CGT discounting methods with a cost-base indexation model and a minimum tax framework on net capital gains.
It makes more sense now. Document the increasing value of your collection and pay tax. Not that I agree, just that I understand.
@Sledgemeister Thanks for the heads up. I have only accumulated some stoves, mostly from the tip. Do I need to factor in the fuel used to get there, labour hrs and time resourcing parts and information and skills and equipment to get them working again. I’m willing to index all this with current rates. I suppose I need to do it properly as they want. I will depreciate my tools and claim expenses. I’m sure they will be glad to reimburse me for what I will be entitled to. Not forgetting I will need to claim a computer and interweb useage as well. Please pay into account number #…….. As far as I can tell a good 2 pint stove of vintage in good working condition will sell for as much as $50.00-150 Probably cost me more than that at current rates to repair and rebuild say 5-6 hrs labour not counting expenses @ $25 min wage then they owe be $150+ per stove. Whoohoo I’m rich with an hand out each year from the govment.
That's interesting, another no more F's to give towards the Albanese circus. Anyway, Loose lips sink ships tell them nothing.
That’s a ridiculous reason, though because all collections are subjective I mean, people have gigantic worthless collections that they value more than any money could buy, which could be in the millions or billions even if they were to let it go to somebody for a price.
