A prior owner had for some reason, overpainted the original inner case lid label on this No.71. Since the case paintwork was also in a generally tatty state, I decided a while ago, to remove both the incumbent corrosion and paint by electrolysis back to bare metal in order to undertake a respray - VHT silver paint, good for 800C /1472F was used.

Big thanks to Ross (@Spiritburner) who recently sent me a high resolution photo of the inner lid’s Primus label for me to reproduce, enabling me to complete the restoration.

No date stamp either on the base or anywhere else on the stove.

Wow! That stove is in pristine condition. What a fine example and the flame shot is giving me an erection. Dang, that is one nice stove. Congratulations, I'm jealous.

@hikerduane - Thanks very much Duane. Glad you like it.

I think the labels play a big part in bringing the case ‘to life’. Without them IMO, it would just be another painted case.

    Very nice work!

I could have sent you a glitter sticker for the outside, but I suppose it wouldn't have made for a very authentic restoration ;)

    Addendum…

When I have finished using the stove, to reduce the possibility of damage occurring to my new inner label by the end of the spindle due to transportation movement, I just rotate the stove in the case, such that the spindle always points away from the label.
