This is the common metho used in Australia. I made the mistake of reading the Directions for the first time ever whilst using my Trangia. ;);)

I just had a look at the same bottle in a hardware store we both share. Yes same warning and the warning is not on other brands of the same stuff. 2 thoughts. H&S had a brain freeze or more likely they dont know what a spirit stove is. Put is in a white spirit stove and almost nothing will happen. Put it in a kero stove and if it lights at all it could heat to the point it gets out of control due to the lower vapour point. Certainly a stove designed for meths its fine.
Industrial made and intended use so 95% is good but no guesses what the rest is please. Methanol contamination is not allowed here or there but can you trust that they tested for it or that its locally made. Only way I know to test for methanol is take a swig and look at your fingers in the morning. If you can still see them its not methanol. There is bound to be a safer test

I think this is a clear and cynical lawyer move - if you put it in an alcohol stove and set yourself on fire, we can't be blamed (or sued) because we told you not to. Nevermind that they know that's what lots of folks buy it for.

Methylated Spirits is Ethanol. Methylated in this context means it had an additive put in to make it taste terrible. The 5% is mostly water.

I'd burn this but not Methanol. It burns but it's much more toxic.
