Alright so I think these Brassies are pretty cool - but my wife doesn't seem to understand. I saw a Svea #5 for sale $16.00 so I got it. It looks to be pretty much the same but bigger and a different burner Now I do have an old 123 by seivert but its not like this legs are fixed has a burner plate on top and says "King of Stoves" SVEA how do you date and is firing it up same as the 96? that one is a peice of cake rw
Lucky devil you, only $16.00 is better than any complete stove i've ever purschased. The SVEA NO 5, if it is like mine is known as a silent burner. The best recommendation for lighting is to prime twice then light the burner with a third "match" just before or after the prime flame goes out. Do not expect the priming flame to light the stove as sometimes it will "under burn" that is the flame will actually fire under the dome cap. The one with the many holes in it. This "under burn" will result in the dome actually melting off the stove if left to burn for very long. Always light the flame at the outside of the dome. Did you get the cast iron pan support or a pressed steel one? lance
Hi, the stove has the pressed steel plate and silent burner. It has a coat of arms on the tank as well as some kind of cursive script or scrolling I hope this weekend I have a chance to fire it up . I have to rebuild one of my MSR stoves too Thanks for the tip on the silent burner rw
