Awaiting the newly ordered pump cup but otherwise I think she is a real beauty! Can anyone tell me her age?

How does she look? I can't wait to get that burner red hot!

Now that looks the business - nice fettle! Mid to late 50's.

Flip her over & look for the code on the bottom then check this chart for a date:

I talked about the finish of these tins on another thread - seen how shiny the inside is? Thats how they were outside when new.

So Ross, am I then to understand that this tin of mine has been re painted some time back?

I checked the number Ross and it looks like the chart says it was made in 1962. That does not seem like that long ago. I must be getting older. grin

That's interesting. Where is the code on yours? On the underside of the tank or on a leg or somewhere else? What is the full number? Yours could well be one of the last of this outfit. It certainly doesn't feature in the 1963 catalogue from the Primus Trading Co - the name used by Optimus to market the Primus brand for the models it acquired the rights to in 1962.

Your tin looks unpainted from the photo & how the majority I see are found. It's just tarnish IMHO.

I was born in '62 - certainly doesn't seem long ago to me!

I am with Spudz. Jet hole seems too large.

Hey Ian, can you post a closer picture of the vaporisator alone?

    Regards,
    Sefa

Lipstick burner tubes have a slight counter-sink with the jet hole in the centre. The one in the photo just looks a little more pronounced - or maybe my eyes are deceiving me!! :?

Ross, the entire number on that stove is 201162 and is located on the outside surface of the leg opposite the pump and filler cap.

I will see what I can do about a photo of just the lipstick portion. Work keeps getting in the way here. Funny how that happens.

Ok you talked me into doing it now. What you could not see from the other photos was that the jet hole was clogged with brasso or something else. I put a 123 pricker through the hole and what ever was there covering it up just broke up and fell away. Trevor, U da man! You were exactly right on with your description. there is a little counter sink or dimple around the orfice. Have a look here.

I should have asked Sefa if there was anything special for me to do to those pump leather cups before installing like soaking them in motor oil for an hour or something like that? Anyone care to comment?

Kerophile, You are one sick puppy! You want me to fire that baby up after I got her all nice and tiddly again? :D grin .........actually I can't wait haha! I fettled up a 123R for my son's birthday today. I am anxious for him to see it so I can show him how to use it and be the first to take the shine down a tinge.

Anybody else think of this forum as "The Man's Temple"? LOL I have so much fun here.

    cheers

    Ian....

You should soak them in oil of some kind overnight. I use mineral oil, others use olive oil, so I don't think it's critical just don't use grease. If you've already fitted it to the pump rod, just stick the leather end into the oil of your choice, no need to remove it first.

Hi Ian, I don't know about a "The Man Temple". We do actually have some female members of CCS.

    Sefa,
I followed that suggestion and used mineral oil to soak one of the leather cups you sent me. I replaced the old cup on a Primus 210 that just arrived. Thanks again for your help.
