I havent bought a stove in a few weeks and I have my eye on a coleman 533 it's only $24.00 at the coleman outlet store 20 mins from me! (factory refurbished) then there is a nice 2 burner thermos stove that would go nicely with the 3 burner i already have. and of course lets not forget the different models of coleman stoves i still need to get........ I cannot believe how deep i am getting into this collecting. I am going to start buying the coleman fuel in the gallon cans instead of those little jugs..

It has been known, but not proven, that one gets infected with SCV (or SCB) by merely visiting this website and clicking randomly on the links. It has been also known that quarantine does not work, but rather worsen the mental and physical conditions of the infected. It surely is a scurge!
too late i have been looking at those too.... and also some whisperlites stoves, i even want an esbit stove..... they are all on my list....

Hey, Manny, It's great to have you back with us, Mate! I missed you, whilst you were doing the lent thing, but admire your commitment to do what you promised to do! Great little sign, and one that I'll have to print out and add to my "Train Manny" goodies up in the stove room!! 8) Suprz, if a Whisperlite is calling your name, then by all means, go get one. But, especially in the case of the Whisperlite Internationale, don't expect it to live up to it's own advertising, because it cannot, and will not, do so! Do a search here at CCS, and you will read some faily long rants of mine on the lack of preformance and long-term reliability of this stove! After EXTENSIVE testing and experimentation, I have found that the Internationale is NOT a multifuel stove, as it is advertised to be, and that, over an extended period of time, it will not burn kerosene, diesel, nor any other heavier fuels, with reliability, PERIOD, all MSR ads to the contrary!! After it failed on the PCT, despite meticulous daily care, I called MSR and their stove tech admitted to me that it was NEVER meant to burn anything except Coleman fuel, and that using kerosene and other such fuels in it, was to be done only in emergencies!! Hummmmm...... I wonder why MSR still persists in calling this stove a "multifuel stove"??????????? As to the regular Whisperlite, it's OK, but not spectacular, in performance. It works fine, but is a "One Note Johnny" stove, in that it won't simmer. Since it, too, is a single fuel stove, it's not versatile enough for me, especially when the MSR X-GK EX can do the same thing, in a better fashion, and in addition, can burn just about any fuel you can name! Both of them need a good simmering plate in order to actually "cook" on them. Otherwise, both are for boiling water, period. Just my thoughts on the matter, and as I said in the beginning, if the Whisperlite is calling your name, by all means, go get one. But, be prepared for receiving less than what you might expect from a stove, because that's what you're going to get! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
Stove collecting: Hmmph, I was an ordinary cartridge gas and Hexi cooker man until I bumped into Rik on another forum. I now have: Pierce cartridge Bluet (I was given it by my grandfather in the early 80s) Globetrotter (owned since new) British Army Hexi British Army Crusader Cooker (and Crusader mug AND a Dutch Army metal mug) Rapijet refillable butane stove Far East copy of a Nova+ Brand new Optimus III+ Brand new Russian 8R clone and today a brand new Optimus/SVEA 123R. ...and also 3 ex British Army Vapalux pressure lamps! (I think that's all)
thanks for the info Doc, i will look into the other MSR you mentioned. but right now that big 3 burner Thermos stove i got off Ebay is calling my name and i think i will make some hot dogs and beans....
I got it bad. I don't really like gassies. No real reason, no experience other than I know that it's easier to tell if I need fuel if I have an almost empty can of liquid fuel. I went out today with thoughts of maybe getting lucky and finding a G.I. Pocket stove or a single burner Coleman real cheap.... I stop at a yard sale and I see a Coleman propane fitting.... no stove, no lantern...just the fitting....( I have no gassies. I really don't want any gassies. I don't like the idea that it's hard to tell when you are running out of propane and I just like liquid fuel stoves better over all. ) BUT.. I ask how much the fitting is? "25 cents" Oh, well heck, 25 cents! How can I go wrong for 25 cents?........ I get back in the car and go up the road to a thrift store where I have never found anything. No stove, no lantern, high prices...etc. I check it though. I leave the Coleman fitting in the car and go in. Low and Behold! They have a Coleman propane 2 burner Model 5430 A700 with no adapter to connect the tank to the stove!!! $5.95 +tax, and they "can't" change any prices. OK. I don't want a gassie, but isn't fate telling me to get this??? So, I buy the gassie. Nice little propane 2 burner..... The fitting does not fit this stove. I don't know what it does fit, but it doesn't fit this stove.... I am hoping it might be the adaptor to turn a regular Coleman suitcase into a gassie and back again, but for now, I don't know..... Oh boy! I just checked it again and edited this in, and the adaptor DOES fit this stove...which somehow, makes it worse.........it WAS fate...... I'll be darned, it runs! Even though I don't like gassies, I have several half empty Coleman tanks about, because they were free...... I don't really like gassies...but I bought one today! Yep, I fear I have it bad.
Matukat, that's a nice find! My first coleman stove way back in the 80's was a 2 burner propane that i studiply sold for 20 bucks i love the liquid fueled stoves, but my wife doesnt, and i am looking for that same stove again. they dont make that particular model anymore, but i have seen some on Ebay. i will probably get one again. LOL my neighbor just looked at me funny sitting on my deck with my laptop and cooking on my stove....
I don't like the gassies either but i have a couple and i also have a Coleman green watermelon tank with the proper regulator and hose and even a made it my self adaptor. now all i need is the stove which it fits. no!! no!! i don't need the stove, what i need is to find someone who has the stove but needs the bits i have. lance Matukat Great finds. This one really is odd luck. Find the adaptor first, then the stove, about 1/8th of a mile away at the thrift. I thought maybe the adaptor was the thing that would let you convert your regular Coleman to propane and figured for a quarter I couldn't go wrong. Went to another thrift after I posted this gassie. They have a 425F for 5 bucks. Trouble is: no tank no generator tube. Store manager doesn't care if it's lost in the back either. Freakin' idiots. I suppose you could build a small fire in the box under the grill........ Now, if my luck will lead me to a job, a G.I. pocket stove, and a Sigg with a Svea......
Get it and i'll give you a tank or give you the money fir it plus a bit for your trouble and i'll make me a one burner Coleman suitcase. lance
