I saw that and came near to drencing my skivvies. Then I emailed it to SWMBO who replied that since we're famous now and soon to be rich why don't we vacation this season on the Cote d' Azure. I told her to stop hanging out with low-lifes who use words like that in public. Gerry
Absolutly supurb Manny, but i do have one queston: Where did you get the photo of my wife? I thought i was the only one to have that photo. lance
Hi Manny Yet another tongue-in-cheek gem. I love that lovely pair . . . . . . . . . . . . of matching plates.
Hey Men, I'm glad you got a good laugh. As usual your comments were better than my artwork. I found the original ad in the Advertising Forum here at good ole Spiritburner.com. http:// Aparently sex sells stoves. I'm curious about the date of this ad/promotional material. When was the Trapper 81 introduced? The type style has the distictive look of the early 70's. Richard, I'm not familiar with the Fjall Raven. Where were they made? Anyone have a guess as to the pack's manufacturer? Dave, You have to be crazy to keep from going insane. Alan, I'm glad to be back, it was a long 6 weeks! Take care, Manny
Hey, Brother Manny, I believe that the Trapper 81 was introduced in the very late 1970's, or the very early 1980's. In the landmark review of backpacking equipment and stove testing, the 1978 edition of "Backpacking Equipment Buyer's Guide" by William Kemsley, et. al., does not mention it, and includes in its testing, the Optimus 77A, which is the predecessor to the Trapper 81. However, in the 1984 edition of his legendary and much beloved book, "The Complete Walker III", Colin Fletcher reviews the Trapper 81, and deemed a worthwhile improvement over the 77A. So, sometime between 1978-1984 is my guess for the first appearance of the Trapper 81, which, by the way, is one of my most favorite Meths stoves!! I have 3-4 of them, and they have definitely earned my trust and admiration over many years of hard, and varied use!! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
To me it doe's not look like a Bergans of Norway. The tent, the pack and certainly the lady look Swedish to me My guess is that both tent and pack is made by |imgRemoved| of Sweden. |imgRemoved| made some silver coloured tents back in the 70's and 80's. Anyone from Sweden who can enlighten us?
