Hi, quite new around here. Just obtained my first classic stove, a Primus 96 (nice condition). Am having trouble lighting it though. After pre heat, I've given it one or two pumps on the primer, then light the stove and all that seems to happen is unvapourised fuel spits out everywhere!! The stove seems to hold pressure no probs, and the strainer and the vapouriser tube are clear. Would be grateful if anyone has any suggestions. Regards Paul
hi Cooler the problem could be are you using enough feul (meths) in the spirit cup or if you are lighting the stove outside is it protected from draughts. if you are using indoors and is well protected outside try double primming these are the most common causes

Possible 'Doh !' #-o question here, but are you closing the relief valve in the filler cap just before the priming flame dies out and you start to pump? Stupid Q. I know sorry.
How about the jet dimension? If it's too large, you'll have problems. As far as I understand the 96 doesn't come with a removable jet, but rather has a tiny hole drilled directly in the burner. For work on the 96 burner this may be useful: Link Knut
