    Hello everyone!

Last Saturday I bought myself an Origo Heat-Pal, probably from mid/late 70's or early 80's.. for 45 SEK (about 5 Euro or 6 USD)..

And I was very happy with that, so last Monday evening I cleaned it off a little, making sure all moving parts were moving correctly and stuff...

Yesterday I bought 5 litres of methanol, to use as fuel.

Well, as it turned out (and as you can probably see on the photo above), I found that the 'wick' were charred, and after I poured the fuel into the tank, it wouldn't light up... So I tried the 'cheap'n'dirty' way of solving it, I used a knife and a small screwdriver to remove as much char as possible.. Having done that, I then tried to light it up again, and Hooray! it burned!! Probably not as good as it should have with a good wick, but anyway... it worked, and it produced some heat as well!

Well, anyway, I would like to know if someone has got some kind of instruction-sheet for this Heat-Pal, and if so, if they would like to share a copy with me? I also wonder if someone knows if it is possible to exchange the wick, and if so how to do that, and with what should I replace it?

I hope someone can help me... It would be nice to have the Heat-Pal when travelling, getting the moist out of the tent...

Take care, and keep on burning!

Have you tried contacting Origo  . As far as I know they are still producing alcohol stoves for the marine market. They may be able to help, maybe not . The worst they can say is no.
    Check out: Origo

    Hi Ian!

Thanks for yoursuggestion, Ian, but I actually phoned them earlier today, and they said that there was another company that manufactured the Origo Heat-Pal at that time (Jobo), and I got their number.

However, after three attempts to call them (5 minutes of ringing each time), I gave up, and thought that if there is one place where I can find information, it is Classic Camp Stoves!!!

Origo (or actually Dometic AB, www.origo-sweden.com ) is still manufacturing a product called Origo Heat-Pal 5100 , but it is not the same burner construction.

I just wonder if someone has got the instructions, and if someone have some ideas on how to replace the wick...

I will of course continue trying to get in touch with the company.

    Thanks again!

    Cheers!
