The diffuser on the Companion/Svea is almost hemispherical with diameter of 11cm. and the rim is hung in line with the top of the burner ring.

Because of the heat generated you will need to fettle a plate to reflect the heat away from the font.

Also mine tends to build up a carbon deposit under the diffuser, and glowing bits fall off, so put your burner on some sort of a metal tray.

Picture in in the Collectors Gallery, Fr Laurence's collection.

Hi Brass Monkey. Here is an Svea (Max Sievert) advertising image which should give some guidance as to the correct shape of the heater cap, and heat deflector for you stove:

I see...the heat deflector should be easy enough th construct, theflame deflector could pose some problems though.

There are no markings on mine but the lines look similar to the one shown...though it is missing the handle.

thanks guys, i'll see what i can come up with.

Monitor - so it should be, I suppose, given the heater parts are also Monitor...

The reason I ask is that I have an unburned one of these for which I've never been able to find a stove that fits. When it arrived, the rear strut on the dome was bent at an acute angle. I straightened it out easily enough, but the whole shebang doesn't seem to sit comfortably on any stove I own. Looking at yours, I may need to bend the front strut back a bit.

    Watch this space...

Hi Brass Monkey, as you know I always have an eye to an alternative use for an everyday object.
It occurs to me that the bowl from a stainless steel ladle, suitably drilled to give the penetrations would make a very good and heat-reistant flame diffuser.
If the wife doesn't have one, the local kitchen shop is sure to have a range of sizes at very modest prices.
    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.
