    Hey Crunchy,
That's a very nice 8R and a helluva good deal; I'm jealous because mine aren't embossed and I really like that look. Now you're ready for the Worldwide Optimus Eight Day extravaganza to be held in your area on 8-8-08. If none has been organized, then it's up to you.

    L8R,
    Gary

they all get hot,it's what makes them burn better,if you think that's running hot try picking up a Borde after it's been running for 10 minutes, very nearly take your skin off ;)

yeh thats fine. i thought it would be normal, just checking that it was normal to be too hot to touch for more than a second or two.

heres some pics of it fired up. i sohuld of taken them in the dark as they are not so easy to see in the bright light. but you can see the nice cherry red glow of the pan supports.

to be honest i dont really need anything else. except maybe some non stick pans for my old trangia. i got the 8r for practical reasons, but i also love the old school technology of it.

see i have a jetboil i use for day hikes where i just want a hot drink. and then for campng i will use the 8r with my traingia, so i can cook two things at once, one on each stove, ie rice and chilli... and my trangia supplies the pans to sue with the 8r..

if i see a 111 at a garage sale or something then i will get one too. and maybe another 8r to keep one for use and one nice and clean for the future..

yup at that price you would be a fool not to grab it,i didn't have one until a couple of weeks ago but now have 4  , try and get a 99 same stove in a alloy case with its own pan well handy if its just cuppa's and quick meal breaks, good luck on the hunt for a 111 took me ages to get an affordable one (well any one),but they are easier to find where you are
