Anybody ever use one of these ???

    BriteLyt Stoves - Multi-Fuel

New - Adjustable Burner Stove!! Equipped with preheater and lantern parts. Ready to use. Read instructions and VHS tape instructions, fill stove tank, & light up! Preheats in same manner as the lantern. Add pressure with O-Ring pump system. Pumps up fast!! When the needle is on the 3 bars, light the preheater, and allow to preheat. Turn the stove on by turning the on and off knob (just turn it counter clockwise to the ON position - from low heat to high heat as you turn more). When cooking is complete, turn knob clockwise (Off). The E-Z pump can be used if desired as an extra.

    ?Made of Brass w/Nickel platting.

Don't buy them, they look nice but several members on this forum have fallen into the pitfalls of owning them including myself. They are junk. Made in China. The seems will leak, the fittings leak and they are roughly built. You would do much better bidding on an old stove such as Optimus or Primus. I am sure this will not be the last post attesting to my claims.

Don't buy, rubbish, use your $65 and get a Brunton Optimus 123, burns Coleman fuel, will last you a lifetime, or look around the site for a stove that takes your fancy and ask questions.

    All the best

The lanterns perform in the same way Rob describes, apparently. Check out the International Guild of Lamp Restorers website and do a search on BriteLyt...

When these things first showed up on the web about 3 years ago, they created some excitement, because they were something new under the sun; a modern brass stove. They look quite nice. Bob Brubach (Bear1) tested several and reported that they were bad. It seemed like they were withdrawn for awhile, with some scuttlebut that they were going to fix the problems.
Back they came, and the universal view is that they are junk. At our June clan campout, my brother John brought along his new brass Brytelite "Petromax" lantern. Leaked from the seams, valves broke; a bloody mess. And he only spent $150 for it.....This company's products seem very poor.

Bear1still says they're poorly designed, badly made junk with no redeeming value whatsoever. Save your money for something of value. :?

I have never heard anything good about that company .I have heard the opinions of what I consider far more experienced collectors than myself and it wasn't good. I wouldn't consider doing business with them. The stove really has a bad reputation. Dan
