I would like to say that I have just completed a fettle on my radius 43.... but I guess things are never complete. I broke a hinge at the very last minute, I think I moved it too soon after baking the paint. It was pretty thin anyway. The other hinge is good and strong, so for now at least this fettle is done.
I have not seen a radius with this type of pot stand before. Very strong, if a bit heavy.
I am sure this stove had a cleaning needle built in when I got it. There is no needle there now, maybe there never was.
    Anyway here are the pics

    Hi YD,
I have a NIB 111T, also with a busted hinge, any ideas on a fix? (preferably not mussing up the paint job...)

Hi. I don't have a 111t (but I am looking for one). The hinge is very different on this stove. Your 111t has a welded on hinge ( I think). This stove has a welded on hinge at the top. Which goes through a hole punched in the bottom of the tin. To fix mine I just need to run some wire under the roll of tin on the bottom part replacing the bit that broke off. I can't do that with out mucking with the paint so I will leave it as is. Luckily when you shut the tin it is a very tight fit so the loose broken part cant move anyway.

On my 111T, the hinge snapped off right at the rolled bit, if that makes any sense.
I'm at work, so no pics. I'm thinking i'll have to make a new half hinge, or perhaps replace the whole thing. I just hate messing with an otherwise NIB stove. :frown:

I am glad I wrote that bit about about how to fix mine. It motivated me to actually do it. It worked well. I used a bike spoke. Will need a paint touch up but thats o.k. as I was not that happy with the finish on the tin so I will do another entire coat.

I had a 111t with a broken hinge like yours, sold it that way. I think someone with a very, very good weld could have fixed it with a little spot in the outside of the break. Or I you could glue? a new hinge beside the broken one.

    Here is my repair...

    Spooky!!

Any how it looks tidier and seems to be running fine

They are a very nice stove... A bit more interesting in some ways that the Optimus 111 IMHO. I'm keeping half an eye out for one myself...

Post some pictures of the hinge problem I'm sure it's fixable...

    Cheers

    John

That is the radius. I did not fix the 111t. I wish I kept the 111! I decided to sell it and wait for one with a good tin... still waiting.

One thing is that you never sell a 111*! I wish I had not sold my 111B. That was such a good runner. Why, O why?

With a repaint you cant tell it was ever broken

This blue colour is the colour I used the first time. It went green then I baked it. I wonder if it will do so again.

Nice job ;) This inpired me to start working on my Radius 43.
Do you use temperatur ressistant paint, or just normal "car type"? Any special primer before the paint?

I used a "Light blue" "to suit ford' engine enamal. The brand was septone. It did not need a primer.
Why it went green when I put it in the oven is anyones guess. I like the green but won't be buying that brand again.
I did an 8r also with the same result.
I don't think the heat proof paint is necessary for everyone but I am pretty clumsy when priming so I did need it.
