Hi, My search for an aluminium box (what I believe coleman calls the cook kit) for my Coleman stove has lead me to this web site. Coleman no longer makes the aluminum box - and so I'm wondering if anyone knows how I might aquire one. Many Thanks, Linda
Coleman made at least two sizes of the cube shaped "boxes." there are uncountable hundreds of thousands of 'em in circulation. Flea markkets, garage sales, ebay and craigslist are but a few places to look. Thrift stores and second hand outlets are good as well. Gerry
Looking for this one? There is a new one here, they are model number 501-960 and come up fairly often on ebay; http://cgi.ebay.ca/Coleman-501-960-...241121189QQcategoryZ87138QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem There is a round model as well, saw one the other day at second hand store, probably still there. What size or model of stove are you putting in it?
I once saw one in a thrift store and passed on it. I really hate when my brain locks up on me. Someday I'll find another.
Someone posted a website that sells military surplus. I beleive that you could get a Marine one for under $20. Iain The Spirits canna be bothered searching tonight.
The "Marine" one is a Peak One cook kit with a civiilian US Marine Corps commemorative fuel bottle. Still and all it's a decent value at $20.00. Gerry
Try these guys , I have been to their store and seen the aluminum box/cook kits for the peak one stoves there http://celsurplus.com/
I have to thank you all for the great suggestions! I think I'm going to try the surplus stores and see what I come up with. It sounds like you all know your stoves! Thanks again, Linda
Do you know the website or a store name that sells this cook kit & fuel bottle for $20? Thanks, Linda
Hi Linda, this would be the one, $22.50 + S&H; http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Coleman-Pea...itemZ5242622424QQcategoryZ87144QQcmdZViewItem
This seems to be a fair enough deal for the Fuel Bottle and Cook Set, but be aware this Fuel Bottle is designed for use with COLEMAN APEX (nos. 1 and 2) Stoves. The gasket and top are differently configured than those designed for MSR stoves (utilized a recessed gasket) - consequently, it may not be able to be used with them.
Thanks so much for all your help. That fuel bottle will work for me - because I do have an Apex stove. Really appreciate everyone's great advice. Happy Camping! Linda
