I have another question about silent burners.

What causes the burner to go into doodlebug mode?

This is where the burner pulses and also loses the proper flame pattern. It has happened a few times with the burner just running normally before suddenly making the horrible noise.

    Thanks

    Ray.

This is called 'underburn' and is frequently caused by low pressure in the tank or perhaps a partially blocked jet...

    Thanks David,
can it be cured by just pumping up the pressure or does the stove have to be re-started?

Turn off asap & start again - underburn can destroy the burner caps

and occures then gas flow veloсity in a holes of silent burner is less then flame propogation velocity.

reason are already mentioned -low pressure or clogged or asimmetric jet.
some times burner cups may stay asimmetry too, usually it takes place then injection tube is unstationary and made without reserv
