I stripped down a coleman 200a lantern withthe cleaning stem that you turn. I cant get the darned thing out. Theres something stuck or something as it wont turn 180 degrees. I tried everything I can think of short of smashing it with a hammer but cant get it out. Whats the trick?
Hey, Bntbrl, Did you remove the generator, and thereby, unhook the cleaning needle from that stem? If not, it most certainly won't come out, not matter what you do. If you have removed the cleaning needle, then you may need to soak the stem in some penetrating oil in order to get it out. I've found that some have a brass ring/keeper in them, and that might be grunged up. Other than that, try the good folks over at BBL, which is where lantern questions can get answered very quickly and correctly. Some of our guys are members, too, like me. It was hopelessly stuck. I did everything right but the graphite gasket or whatever was holding it. I marred the little handle with the pliers onit so Ill have to get another one. I must not have the same google as everyone else or something. I messed around for an hour trying to find a good forum but couldnt. This whole thing started out with mr trying to figure out another configuration for an 8R that I have. Someone cut the tank from the burner at the burner for some reason. Thats a whole other story. Thanks a bunch though, I never would have found that forum.
