Hi I recently bought a Radius No 17 stove at the Swedish e-bay-version Tradera. Yesterday I recieved the stove and there was a text engraved in the brass, which in english says "Aktiebolaget Radius Stockholm Sweden" "Sole makers of the genuine Radius apparatus" The second line is then repeated in a number of other languages, some of them I'm not familiar to. However, I would like to know which these languages are, and therefore ask you - my world-wide collegues - to help me. I attach two pictures of the texts, where I have numbered the lines to simplify the communication. Line 1 and 2 and 7 are in english Line 3 I'm quite sure is in german Line 4 I guess is in french Line 5 could be in spanish, but I'm far from sure Line 6 and 8-12 is unknown languages to me. If you are familiar to any of these non-english languages please help me out with this task. I would also like to know if the text has the same meaning as the english one on line 2. As far as I know german, it seems to be so. Thanks /P-O
Hi kerophile Thanks for the link! It resolved most of my question marks! As far as I understand, the languages are thus: Line 1: English Line 2: English Line 3: German Line 4: French Line 5: Spanish Line 6: Russian Line 7: English (copy of line 1) Line 8: An asian language Line 9: An asian language Line 10: An asian language Line 11: Arabic Line 12: Chinese The reason for all these languages is of course that this is a stove manufactured for export. I state that Line 1 and 7 are in English, though in the link given by kerophile it says Swedish. This is because "Aktiebolaget Radius" is the company name and cannot be translated (Aktiebolaget is similar to Public Limited Company and Private Limited Company, PLC, in English), and second because Sweden is spelled "Sverige" in Swedish. Anyhow, this is a detail one shouldn't dig into too deep. I would be much more interesting if someone could resolve the asian languages on lines 8-10. /P-O
I can't help with the other languages I'm afraid, but in the UK a Public Limited Company is a PLC, whereas a Private Limited Company is merely a Limited Company.
