    Hello,
I recently picked up this Burmus 21. I have heard these are not great stoves. But, complete with the tin and reserve cap I thought it was a good one for my collection. Does anyone know of any pitfalls, cracking of the tank or other issues to be on the look out for?

Chuck, they are a good little stove, I have a couple myself, one silent and one roarer; both fired up first time after being in a shed for years. Just do the usual seal and leather check, and clean the nipple. Good buy

PS, and they are from my home city of Birmingham

Mine seems to not seal very well at the tank to burner joint.

The burner tube threads seemed tapered, and I've tried cleaning the threads, but a little flame usually pops out.

Not sure if there is supposed to be a gasket of some type that mine is missing.

    Nice stove otherwise.

I've only got one stove with the tapered thread connection. It had the disconcerting "feature" or a little sooty flame at the tank join as well. A single wrap of teflon pipe seal tape cured it.

How well does the teflon handle the heat? Or you rewrap everytime?
