    Hi all and Merry Christmas!
My pressure test on the Force 10 heater turned out to be perfect, no leaks. Next step is to test the heater. The tank has a small amount of kero, old kero in it. What is the best way to clean the tank? I've tried searching the archives, but I don't seem to find anything like my situation.
    thanks
    Neil

hello again Neil, my Taylors had sat at the back of my mate's workshop for ten years or more with about a pint of fuel in the one and a half gallon tank.. I simply tipped it out, gave the tank a quick swirl with a little acetone (nail varnish remover), then refilled it with fresh paraffin after mounting it to the bulkhead. The Taylors has an inline filter, but in four years of winter operation i've never had a blockage or needed to clean the filter...

    Hello,
You will want to pour out all the old paraffin and you can also try rinsing out the tnak with denatured alcohol. Any hardware store or home center store will have a supply on hand. If you really want to get brave you can pour in boiling water and swish that around. Have oven mits nearby as the metal will get hot pretty fast. Then to remove the excess water swish in the denatured alcohol and it will remove the water.

    Hello Trintonofnor and Chuck--
Thanks for the advice for cleaning the tank. Sounds simple enough. Now I just need to cut another hole in the boat...this one will be above the waterline and hopefully in a few will be the tail end of a cheerfully functioning Force 10 heater.
I hadn't thought about the inline filter, that isn't a bad idea.
    All the best
    Neil
