hi all i have been busting a gut all week waiting for this auction to end, and trying not to say anything has been torture, i really didn't want to say anything before as i didn't want a bidding war on my hands but it's over and i won,so i can now breathe a sigh of relief, any one out there got any advice on them? do they take standard 111 bit's ie graphite packing jets ? what fuel i presume (and hope) paraffin also there is another coming up this week if anyone else is interested in them, i will post a link to the other one in auction watch, anyway here's some pics of it the case looks a bit rusty but nothing that can't be fixed up and i paid less for it than i ever thought i would, in fact less than i paid for any of my 111's apart from one incomplete one that i bought for spares
First of all parra verry well done and congratulations im not familliar with the 11 but im sure it is paraffin and the jet and cleaning needle is the same as the 111
hi Brian thanks for the congrats, fancied one a while but usually to pricey for me, still keep looking and ye shall find as Doc Mark would say nope but thats what the auction said though and he listed it with 8/80 instruction sheet, i think thats why i got it for the price i did link to ref Gal No11 you can see the filler and pump both on top of the tank
Nice find Para, you will find that the nipple on your No11 is not like a normal 111. It is the same size and thread as most three legged stoves ( 5, 210 etc ). The gland packing is as you are used to with the 111. I would be interested to see a photo of the pump bucket, because I have one with a cobbled together affair, which mostly works, but it would be nice to see what should be there.
Congrats with a nice find parra. I have two of Optimus 11 stoves with slightly different boxes. The burners of my 11's are rather different from a 111 burner. The jet is smaller and there are no built in cleaning needle. I do not know if a spindle from a 111 can be used or modified to fit. The spindle diameter looks to be roughly the same so a graphite packing for a 111 will probably fit, but no guaranties.
hi Gordon F the minute it get's here i'll post a couple of pics for you if no one else has before hand,it's coming from France so will be a week or two
hi aktop i have seen your pics a few times in the last week as the bidding time has been ticking down, very nice, been reading up on a lot of the old posts as well that was an eye opener, the waiting for an auction to end is worse than the dentist's the wait for the postman is even grimer
take a look at; https://classiccampstoves.com/fusion/gallery/15/1221605790-029.jpg from the 1939 catalogue. Different variant but info ok. I've not seen the 11 instruction sheet before. Would you be able to get it scanned for the site please?
hi Ross it isn't the 11 instructions i don't think, the seller read the instructions and listed it as a optimus No8/No80 if he had read the case and listed it as a No 11 i doubt i would have been able to afford to buy it,i just spotted that it was mislabeled and kept quiet about it hoping no one would click or put him right on it.yes i know i'm an ar5ehole but i'm an ar5ehole with a No11 btw if the No 11 instructions are printed on the back of the sheet i will definitely post them
Hi Bill, It's a public auction and that listing was available for anyone here or anyone else for that matter to bid on. I congratulate you for spotting something no-one else did. Having done that you are certainly under no obligation whatsoever to point it out to anyone else. Look at it a different way. By winning the stove you've saved any other bidders being disappointed for not receiving an 8 - a great public service Well done on a great score!
hi 4 X B i never thought about it like that 8) ,i saved someone from a disappointment ,i feel much less like a git now thanks, i suppose when it gets here i could ask the seller for a discount as it is significantly not as described (btw i am joking)
