I bought this Soviet Coleman knockoff out of curiosity, because I wanted to learn a few details about its construction. Until then, I had only worked with one Coleman: Coleman Solus where I was able to familiarize myself with the interesting design of the pump assembly. I took all the parts apart to clean them thoroughly. After removing the spring, I cleaned the generator tube with a brake cable attached to a drill. I thoroughly cleaned the spring with a brass brush. There was only a stub left needle in the brass rod, so I made a new one from wire of similar thickness. I dismantled and cleaned the fuel intake pipe components. I did the same with the pump assembly. The next steps were to strip the old paint from the tank and housing, clean off the rust, and repaint. Since this is not a vintage stove, I didn't bother with choosing the right colors, but just painted it with what I had (anthracite, resistant to high temperatures). All that remained was to put everything back together, install new seals, and test it. Of course, I realize that this is just a knockoff of the famous Coleman, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to familiarize myself with a design that is new to me. Perhaps other members who are familiar with this type of stove could comment on the similarities/differences? Greetings Stanislaw
@Knee Nice buy, have seen it offered and another great restore you did. You are really going to enjoy using it. Most solid single I own. Low and solid, better than 500 and like Ed said "The single-burner suitcase Coleman shoulda made!" Needed to make mine which was a fun project. Rob, the owner of Old Coleman Parts thought the letter designation should be "S" for single when he saw them! 425S 413S 426S
Ed, Daryl, Duane. Thanks! I also saw a Soviet version with two burners somewhere.ZAZ. ЗАЗ. Rare Russian clone Coleman Stove. @Daryl. You've done a great job with your Colemans. I'll probably stick with this one clone. As I said, I bought it to familiarize myself with its design. I must say, I was very impressed with the ignition and flame adjustment. I will stick to this one stove of this type, because its dimensions (despite being a single-burner stove) are a bit too large for my needs.
