This was a bit of a mystery sale. I thought that I might get about £100 for the outfit but was amazed when it brought £425! The combination of nickel plated stove is unusual but I am still puzzled by the price.

I believe that this may be the most expensive 96 ever sold.

You might be right Bryan! I watched this one with interest. I believe it had been repainted inside & re-decaled as well? You certainly seem to have picked the right time to sell up!

    Hi Ross

I was terrified that my collection ended up in a skip when I died although I am not planning on going anywhere just yet.

I thought that my collection might be worth about £5000 but I have only sold about two thirds of it and have already passed that figure.

I would rather my family got the money than my collection ended up in a landfill site and collectors lost the opportunity to own decent stoves

You are probably sitting on a fortune with your collection including boxes on the main

    Regards Bryan

    Hi Ross

Sorry I only partly answered your question. I was putting another stove on at the time

The tray was repainted but I am not certain about the box. I clean all of my stoves unless they are unused and then I leave them alone so that they can be used for reference as well as people being able to see how they weather naturally

    Regards Bryan

I know this is an old thread, but searching thru the site I came upon it.
I was looking for this kind of painted box.
I have bought the same one, with a brass 96.
The box didn't look like repainted and as I see this one from Bryan, I'm sure it's a configuration provided by Primus.

Mine is also dated AS, so 1953.

This is the 'sp' version (sport), as mentioned, in the steel case. Regarding the high price, some bidders (all it takes is 2) got into a bidding war, a sellers dream scenario. Someone REALLY wanted it and got caught-up in the chase. Hopefully they learned their lesson.
On an aside, how is Bryan? This is before my time on here but browsing through the forum I often come across his very informative and well detailed posts on design, history, etc of stove, models and manufacturers. Sadly have not seen anything recent. I hope he is well.
