    Morning, All,

Yesterday, our neighbors, and good friends, brought their old family stove over to me, as a little gift. The wife told me that it has been in their family since, she thinks, 1949, when her Mom and Dad used it for their family camping, in a small travel trailer! It's a Coleman 425B. The case is square, forrest green, with wire legs, copper-colored tank, non-hinged grate, and it's a two-burner. There is no date that I can find on it, but I'd say it does appear to be from '49, or maybe 1950, or so. The case is in bad need of stripping and painting, but I'm thinking that the stove will run again, with just a hint of fettling!! I'm proud to own it, and may well give it some new paint, once I get it running again. However, the Coleman decal on the inside of the lid, is in perfect condition, and I really don't want to mess with that. Hummmm.... :-k :-k Maybe I'll remove the lid, and just strip and repaint the box.

In any case, Lance, of anyone one else more up on the dates for those early 425 stoves? How can I tell if mine/hers was made in 1949? As that is my birth year, I'd LOVE it if this little stove was , indeed, made in that year? 8) :D :D/
Thanks, very much, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

P.S. Photos later. Right now, I'm actually finishing up on cleaning the Hobbit Hole, in readiness for a new washer and dryer, which arrive between 10:15 and 12:15 this morning!! YAHOO!!

    Early 60th birthday greetings Doc, (I celebrated my 50th just last week). :D :D :D :D

Now, when you get that old timer ;) ;)   Coleman up and running, you can offer to cook your neighbours a fine meal on it ... just for the memories.
    Hurry up with those photos.

Hi Doc: This stove is too new for my expertise. However some Coleman literature I have states the 425 was manufactured between 48 and 53 but does not mention the 425B. Mike...

Hey Doc, Those are nice stoves! ;) I took a look at the ICCC web site and it appears that your stove was made between 54-60 and 62. Sometimes Coleman would place the date on one of the tabs of the fuel tank that fit into the case. Someone else might be able to help more. I have a 425 that I have been unable to find any kind of date code on as well. It seems to be a raandom thing with Coleman, sometimes they do and sometimes they dont. :-k

    best, Rick

    Hi Doc
I don't have the dating answer, either. But, I'm hoping someone will as I'd like to date my 425B, too! Welcome to the "425B Club"! It's a nice stove, for sure, and yours has the benefit of known history. Very nice.

Pictures, please, as soon as you get a chance. 8)

    Cheers,
    Gary

    Hey, Guys,

Many thanks for the comments and suggestions! I already had an original 425, so this "B" version will be a nice addition. I think I have "E", "F", and "G", too, but I'm not sure about any "C" or "D". This "B" is going to take some work, on the box, as it's pretty nasty. But, I shall not look a gift stove in the mouth, especially when it came from a friend and neighbor, and when it came with a long history of single family use!! Cool!

I'll post some photos soon. Right now, we're up against it, time-wise, and work is very demanding. Thanks, again, Guys, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc
