Andy, i might be a bit thick but i dont get the question! The 123 is as i recieved it but shown without the windshield for better comparrison. The Juwels are sold on www.ebay.de and i paid 55 EU Monopoly money including shipping. As to finish, well: It is German made (?) and fit/quality is better than my newly made 123R.
Henrik, when you say things like "greatly missed 123". I am assuming you had a 123 and now you don't. i asked what happened to it, thinking it had either been stolen ? lost ? abducted ? sat on and beyond repair ? lost ? stc etc. Now put that beer down mate, it only makes you snore even louder
What i mean is that the original 123 made by the Swedes in contrast to the new 123 made good knows where, has a better quality! The Juwel is cheaper and by my standards a better stove than the 123R i have, was what i intended to express
Hmm, That does appear to be a nice little stove indeed. I previously ignored the Juwels in general because they were not all brass, but on second thought, I kind of like it. No built-in cleaning needly thing to get out of order, substantial pot rests, a decently large plastic control knob rather than the infamous finger-scorching key, and a larger fuel tank to boot! Not to mention a reasonable price. What more could you ask for, except perhaps a BernieDawg Minicap to go on it! (Would that be a JuwelDawg?) Best Regards Doug E.
Hello from Germany The blue 'Barthel Bomb' is still marketed under the German traditional brand. The stove was in production during the whole time of the existence of the GDR. The origins of the design go even back to the time before WW II. Most of the grey stoves which are traded second hand are from GDR-production. The recent blue version is actually produced in Czech Republic. The German inscriptions might make it appear German made. The outsourcing of the production just over the next border seem to secure quality. As a.m. the quality is for sure better than the china made Optimus stoves. Here in Germany the little blue bomb is sometimes available for less than 40 €. I think that is quite good value for the money. I like mine very much! Regards Michael
In Czech rep.? Where? Little shocking... Price is excellent, this type of stoves are "undestructable". What is the little cylinder next to the jets? And knob design looks familiar...
Hi Hendrik, A very nice stove you have there - I guess you bought this sometime ago? I just did an "advanced" search on ebay.de and could not find any completed listings let alone current ones..which is a shame. I particularly like the 300ml tank capacity which is similar to a paraffin Optimus 00. If it is made in the Czech Republik the quality should be good (if their rifles are anything to go by.)and a damn sight better than any crap coming out of China.
