I walked into a little army/navy surplus store today. As I was walking out I noticed two round cases up next to some Coleman stoves. They said "Optimus Eagle 1000." Nah, it couldn't be. But it was. Two unfired Optimus Eagle 1000's. I'm not sure when they stopped making them, but it must be a quarter century ago. I'll post pics when I get a chance. This little store also had a new Vulcan Safety Chef, a couple of new Coleman 550's, and some Olicamp (?) adapters that allow piercable canisters to be used by a standard threaded stove. That could be really useful in some parts of the world. Just picked up the Eagles this run. One Eagle is pledged to Doc. Not sure if I'll keep the second one or not. I already have a number of stoves in that class. HJ
shame NJ doesnt have more of a camping enthusiast background (perhaps its size??) - it seems finding those little religious statues for your front lawn ar plentiful but stoves at stores.... nope - unless its giant and propane powered great find - it has inspired me on the eternal hunt for the blue flame
Morning, HJ, Just got back from the Reagan, and was tickled to find your note about the little Optimus stoves. I'll pop you and email, or call, right now, and we can talk about payment and delivery. Take care, my Friend, and many thanks for thinking of me in this deal! Much appreciated! God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc P.S. Your "Little Hiker" in training vids were priceless!! Well done! 8) 8)
