A late example of an RM Rambler, boxed with original packing materials and with a rare refill cartridge Complete with a refilling adaptor, but more of that in a moment The burner's not seen much, if any, use with the paint (over brass) still intact The refilling adaptor has a lindal screw fitting at one end ... ... and at the other end, a self-sealing valve in a probe that's inserted in the fuel tank's inlet valve The cartridge refers to RM's owners (from 1950) Samuel Heath and Sons - SHS and Heathware branding I've an older, used, RM Rambler and there are differences The tank shape (higher domed top and base on the newer one) ... ... and by the time the newer one was produced, they realised that one grub-screw was sufficient to secure the control knob in place The newer one (on the right) is the slightly better performer Bryan Miller featured an example of an earlier incarnation of the RM refill cartridge, unique to the stove, with the adaptor/valve an intrinsic part of the cartridge kaw550red's example I reckon thisthe version of the RM Rambler I've featured is one of the last before production ended. Though the introduction of the lindal-valve cartridge (opening up a wider range of UK and overseas-sourced donor cartridges, as the adaptor packaging pointed out) should have boosted sales, it must not have been enough. Presumably the buying public reasoned that a stove in which the lindal-valved cartridge stayed attached to the stove until empty made more sense. John
The older example I have of the stove was boxed and came with instructions and this order form for the cartridges (pre-lindal valve type). Looks expensive at five shillings and threepence! Instruction sheet John
Hey John, where do you find this unique stoves Nice indeed and congrats on the additional stove family member Ron
Thanks Ron. The RM? Like buses, two came along at once ... From fettling forum, re-gassing an RM Rambler without the RM adaptor RM Ramber re-gassing John
Hi John. you are greedy!! (my joke) really beautiful yellow color tank. and special flame . thanks sharing us. John. Gunsoo
Since writing that I’ve been given an unused earlier-production gas canister in which the valve that pushes into the stove’s valve for refilling is soldered onto the steel insert cap of the canister. Older canister on the left. An even earlier production example accompanies a Rambler that Ross (Spiritburner) listed in the Stove Reference Gallery. No steel insert cap, the valve has had the aluminium neck of the canister pressed onto it. John
