Hi Since I started refilling my globetrotter (amongst others) a few years ago from cheap chinese bayonet fitting butane cartridges some other stovies have done similar things. I thought I would share this piece of info. which may help get the best out of your system. This is a bayonet cartridge sliced across. As you can see the "dip tube" is bent 90degrees the end of which aligns with the notch in the fitting. I had wondered about this tube, whether it was like an MSR or Optimus Nova type arrangement but it is much simpler. So if you are using this cartridge to fill another the best position for the cartridge is at an angle of 20 to 30 degrees from horizontal notch down. Must go wife is calling.
Hi, Gary, Thanks for this. Very useful for us refillers. So, the end of the little white tube must face in the same direction as the notch, yes? If the notch is up, then the tube is up too, yes? So, if I want to get the maximum amount of liquid gas into the tube, I need to tip the bayonet canister a bit off the vertical and tip it a bit in the direction of the notch, yes? HJ
HJ Yes you basically need to have the cartidge oriented opposite to the way it would be in those uno stoves and at angle to get the liquid to the front. I have been hanging them upside down but that meant the last bit of liquid lay in the bulbous top of the cart due to how the dip tube is.
