Here's a couple of stoves that are now very difficult to find. I found 'em. See if you can spot the differences. Obviously the manufacturer was addressing design problems in the old stove with the new one. The burner retainer looks a bit more substantial than the old one, which has been known to break off the bottom of the burner. Looks like the CEJN connector was still popular after the design changes were made in the newer model. CEJN connectors on the fuel line and the bottle Female CEJN connectors on the pump. The pumps are the same except for the handle on the end. Ends of fuel tube are not the same. Pump connector up close. The tools are not the same Burner nuts are not the same. Sam, on the flip out handle I noticed stamped optimus nova while in mine it says "made in sweden" I guess the succeeding batches were produced in China or whereabouts that they had issues with quality contoooooooool! Ron
There was a recall on the old hex nut models. Evidently that nut becomes brittle with repeated heat/cool cycles and can shatter. I originally had a hex nut model and sent the burner back to brunton. They replaced the burner with a complete stove kit including the brass nut burner, pump and bottle. This gave me the pump for my later kap arctic project.
Hi Ron, The flip out handle on both of mine say "Made in Sweden" on the other side of the handle where it is in the shadow in the photo. On another note, I have a later Nova+ that has stamped on it "Optimus of Sweden" and not stamped "Made in China" or "China" anywhere on the stove. But on the box, it clearly states, "Manufactured in China" in a small tiny font on the bottom of the box. Maybe none are stamped, "Made in China"? sam
Ah, that tricky wording. Optimus of Sweden and Made in Sweden. Can't tell by looking, but if that nut is ferrous, it could interfere with the magnetic cleaning functions. Mike
Funny, I still have the original box and does not have the made in china shown anywhere. Then again only an expert or someone from Brunton/Optimus can identify which is manufactured where. Ron
Apple makes most things in China. It depends upon quality control standards. China is capable of making some very high quality products under the right conditions.
Anyone ever have the CEJN quick connector hang in the open position? Anyone know how to free it up? It was always a bit finicky on my stove but I haven't used it in a long time and when I went to try and connect the stove line and the pump the quick connect sleeve won't slide into the closed position. Thanks in advance!
