Hello everybody! I figured it?s about time I introduced myself. I?ve been lurking around here for a few months and really enjoy learning about the various stoves. My interest in stove branched from my previous interest in blow torches. I?m fairly new to the stoves and have little experience with them so I had felt I had little to add to the forums, but I will try to jump in a little from know on.

Living in Eastern Canada limits my exposure to ?classic stoves? so I only have a small collection of maybe one to two dozen. I find the prices a little high on these stoves so I tend to end up with dogs which need a fair amount of work. It doesn?t bother me too much as I tend to enjoy fixing things and seldom through out a broken item without taking a shot at if first.

I must acknowledge one of the kind members on this board, kaw550red, from whom I?ve recently purchased a working Primus 96 . I?ve never seen one of these in person, but from the pictures, the proportions of this stove look absolutely beautiful. I can?t wait to receive it and give it a try out on a hike with my 6 yr old son in the woods!

Anyway, enough about me and I look forward to future discussions?

BTW, did I mention I like things which produce fire!!! :D  :p

    Good Evening, Canadian Burner,

Welcome to this crazy, wacky, sometimes weird world of stove collecting, that we all love so much!! :D Feel free to ask, should you have any questions, and if you have something to share, like the little 96 you're getting from Bryan, please post a photo or description of it! By the way, Bryan Miller, from whom you bought your 96, is a fine fellow, and he offers some pretty neat stuff to us Stovies. In fact, I have just bought from him and set of legs and a cast burner plate, that he made for one my recent 96's. It's a Primus that I found up in Alaska. I still need to find a spirit cup, but otherwise, it's now complete. The legs and burner plate that Bryan made are simply outstanding!!! They are easily as good as factory made, or even better. So, you picked a great fellow as your first 96 seller! Again, welcome, and have fun on this stove form. Don't forget to "surf" this site often. I heartily recommend that you spend many an enjoyable hour, checking out all the outstanding information that this site offers. There is much to learn, and a lot of information that you will wish to know can be found right here on this site! You can thank Ross Mellows, aka Spiritburner, for all the hard work he's done to offer us all this fine info!! Take care, have fun, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc Mark

    Another Canuck!

    Welcome.

You won't go wrong dealing with Bryan (kaw550red).

I too have been disappointed with how few of the brass gems there are on this side of the ditch.

Unless you go to Alaska I hear........

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone! I have notice the low number of Canucks on here as well, oh well, you can add another ! I'm east in good old Nova Scotia! My parents are from Italy and came over to this country about 50 yrs ago so I feel somewhat of a tie to the otherside of the pond!

I have to sit down and read through the Photobucket for dummies thread so I can post some photos in the future!

Franco, I echo your thoughts on the availability of stoves overhere as well.

Canadian Iain, I hope my ID on this forum is not too close to yours, my appologies if it is, just let me know and I'll change it before I get attached to it... :)

As most of us tend to purchase from abroad, I would like to extend an offer to do what I can for any member who spots an item on ebay originating from my area and would like me to view or pick it up for them. As long as I don't beat you to it first! Actually, there was a very complete Radious No. 21 not too long ago from very close to my work, It went for way too much money though, about $100 Cdn... I've only seen two such stoves here in my entire life, one of which was a Meva and is now in my posession!

One of the things common to new collectors in any field is the tendency to let their enthusiasm take over and buy indiscriminately. After a bit one learns to be a bit more circumspect in his purchases, especially if funds are limited.

Then of course there's always the possibility of finding a truly superb example of an item that's priced just above what one can actually afford. That's when the real test comes. I've paid what to me were exorbitant prices for some items, and gotten others for a song. Part of the fun.

If a purchase need not be made on the spot, post a query here, you'll get all manner of advice. But if a stove presents itself and a decision must be made then and there, of course you're on your own. Again, part of the fun.

Don't have anything to do with them, they're all a bunch of nutters.
They collect lamps and stoves, play with flammable liquids

    Morning, CB,

I don't know which one is worse: Henry being in denial, or Evil suggesting that he "hold" your stoves for you!!!!  Take care, and God Bless!

You are all a friendly bunch here and it nice to see that atmosphere here! My other love/past time is autoracing, mostly competing in time trial stuff and watching good road racing on the box when it on. That forum group is just as friendly and close nit as this one! I can't say that all the forum are as friendly!!! Some are best left just for observing!

Evil, I have noticed your generosity in the past as well. Maybe I will do the same for folks north of the boarder! :p

Still have to get a few pictures up...

Let me guess CB, you'll hold on to stoves for people north of the border? Did you know Evil collects guns which he claims to know how to point and shoot, with real bullets!!!

Don't mess with the man.

I consider myself to be like the banks in Switzerland. I am a holder of international stoves from collectors of all nations. I am glad to have you on the site. We all love and cherish what we have here and welcome to the fold
