Hi, here are some images of a Stove which I am working on at the moment. It is a Svea 36, which came to me from France about a year ago. It is a large, 4.5 pint, stove, with removable legs and folding carrying handles. I have been unable to find any information about this particular model and would appreciate any help that CCS members can offer. Regards, Kerophile.
Hi Kerophile, I don't know anything about this model, but the large size, lack of feet, and carrying handles, combined with a roarer burner, make me think it was designed for something like a medical application. Maybe a rural hospital or a veterinary practice?? Very nice stove, by the way. ....Arch
Hi Sefa, I am glad you like the stove. It uses the same size burner as a Primus No. 2 . The Primus part No is 4129. I estimate the power output of this stove to be about 4kW, or twice that of a No 1 or No 5 stove. Regards, Kerophile.
Hi Kerophile, Your Svea36 looks nice. I did see Svea26 listed on auction last week.little bigger and early type with clome finished. I don't have any info about this Svea36,but am interested in handdle. is this model has brass handdle? I have some Aladdin3in1 and radius (same kind of this style) are steel haddle. I've never see these made of brass. Did you swapped the burner head? I think usually they are silent type with regulated bulbe, but not sure what is correct. Anyway, nice stove. Regards Takeshi
Kerophile, I don't have any information about your model 36, but I found someone else that has your stove. http://home.wanadoo.nl/olielamp/stoves.htm I was browsing and there is the same stove. I wish you the best of luck! Andrew
Hi Andrew, Thanks for the link. Its the same stove and the leg supports are original. It had been suggested that mine were a later addition but they looked too "factory-made" in my opinion to be an add-on. Thanks again. Kerophile.
Always glad to help a fellow out. My idea was that you can contact the owner of the stove at the website and perhapes he/she might have some information to share with you??? Just an idea Best of luck with your search. P.S. I am looking for a double burner Optimus Campingo if you run across one.
Hi, I have contacted the other Svea 36 owner as suggested by Andrew and we will see what he has to say. Hi Takeshi. Yes the handles on this stove are brass. When I received the stove it had a standard 2-pint stove size silent burner and I have swapped this for a No. 2 -size roarer burner as I thought it might be more authentic..... I could always switch it back. I have also acquired the Svea 26 stove recently offered on Ebay and I received it today. It is almost identical to the Svea 36, but is chrome, or polished Nickel, plated and has a standard 2-pint size silent burner. The Svea 26 despite being a 4.5 pint stove, is designed to be collapsible and has removable legs and a reserve cap which attaches to the top of the filler cap when not required. I will post images in a few days. Regards, Kerophile.
Hi, Unfortunately I drew a blank with the collector whose link I was sent. Please see attached his reply to my request for information: Hello George, Thank you for your email. I can't help you with information, perhaps you can try it by the http://www.dutchstovecollectors.nl/ Greetings Herman. The Dutch Stove Collectors site illustrates a Svea 35 but this is a smaller stove equipped with a parabolic reflecting heater. Regards, Kerophile.
Hi, Here is an image of my Svea 36 alongside her newly arrived sister stove, a Svea 26. As you can see the 4.5 pint tanks are almost identical although the chrome-plated Svea 26 appears an older model. I will make a separate posting on the Site for the Svea 26. Regards, Kerophile.
Hi, here are some photos of the same Svea No36, fitted with a silent burner, and operating: Best Regards, Kerophile
Hi, I am indebted to Al for posting a 1958 Svea catalogue on the CCS Site: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/8426 This catalogue includes the Svea No.36 Heater/ Stove. The fuel capacity of the stove is given as 2 litres/ 3.5 pints and it is claimed that it will burn with a normal flame for 7.5 hours on , presumably a three-quarter full tank. A simple calculation suggests a heat output of 2kW, or 6828 BTU/h. The Svea 36 is described as an oil heater, with a reflector for heating rooms, shops etc. The detachable heater parts can be removed to allow the stove to be used for cooking. The 1958 Svea catalogue actually shows the Svea No.36 with a regulated burner. Best Regards, Kerophile.
