Courtesy of George Castille - USA This is the American M-1942 used by US troops in WWII. They were made by various manufacturers - Prentiss Wabers, Aladdin, others? George writes "I still use the stove on backpacking hikes with Boy Scouts. Everyone is impressed by the condition its in and the fact that it still works!" It's great to see this old classic still going strong.
Hi all, I have included a pic of a "tool" I received as an extra ( had no relation to stove purchased) from another stove I bought. At the time, didn't know anything at all about it other than it looked like some sort of multi- wrench, its quite stout at 70g and about 3mm thick solid steel and about 11cm long- about 4.33 inches. I have come to learn thru CCS and other auctions on Ebay that this is a wrench /spanner for the M1942 model stoves , but I just don't know which one ? It's a litte different from any on CCS, so if somebody recognizes this tool - any info much appreciated - I was hoping to some day maybe get the stove for this part, kinda' ass-backwards, trying to buy a stove to match a part, usually it's the other way , well I hope somebody can help. Cheers Tom
Hi Tom. Sorry for the late reply That is a Coleman universal wrench If my memory is right it was made for all Coleman products. A jack of all trades wrench but not really a master at one. Cheers, Jeff
Hi all: Kellyblues would be the guy to ask as U.S. military stoves are his specialty. I have no idea who made what wrench but I sure could use one for my 1941 520. Not sure but I think Kelly said the early ones didn't come with a wench. Kelly - help help. Mike...
Hi Tom and Mike Tom your wrench was not OE on the M1942 mod. The early M1942 didn't have a wrench from what I know. The M1942 mod came with a wrench different from yours. Your wrench came with some Coleman lanterns. The 237 lantern came with it from what I can remember. I miss that lantern. You can buy your wrench from Old Coleman Parts for $8 USD. Part number 605-950. Mike you can also buy a wrench for the 520 for $10 USD. part no. 520-950 Cheers, Jeff
