Hi kerophile, The Juwel that I just purchased in Canada looks exactly like yours, but does not have the number 1 on it anywhere that I can find. This is a G/B stove with the original G/B burner. I can't see a # 1 on your stove either. Am I to assume that no number showing means that my stove is, indeed, a # 1 like yours? Craig
Hi Craig, My stove is not marked with a number. It appears from the Juwel catalogues GB did not always use numbers on their stove models. in the case of the 1920s/30s, 2 imperial pint models (1.2 litre) models, the catalogues indicate a number of No.1 models with a letter ascribed indicating the type of burner added. Hi George, Thanks for your reply. I would guess that my stove is the exact model as yours as it has no number markings but it does have an original GXB roarer burner which is clogged at the moment. I have a new burner coming from Ross, just in case, but really want to keep it original so I ordered one of the jet tools that has the tiny universal joint in it today and will continue to try to get the original unclogged. I will now try to send some photos. Thanks again. Craig
Hi Craig, our Juwel stoves are certainly sisters, but with some detailed differences, and probably of different ages. However they are both pre-WW2 in my opinion. The legs on my stove have pronounced semi-circular bends at their top end. 2. The tank markings on my stove are a mixture of engraving and embossing. 3. My stove does not have markings on the side of the tank, only on the top. Yours has both. 4. The markings on the top of the burners are also different. On my stove We have "JUWEL", GERMANY, and "old" Russian Cyrillic. On yours there is "JUWEL", the old form of Russian Cyrillic, and also Arabic script. It will be good to see some additional photos of the features of your stove once you have it up and running. Best Regards, Kerophile.
