Gday all A bit of time ago i had taken an interest in Kerosene powered utilities, there’s just something refreshing about appreciating the ways of yesteryear before everything was plug and play. I picked up an Aladdin double burner reasonably cheap and it seems to be in an “okay” condition but it hasn’t ran for a long long time and it has some issues. first of all the tank is quite rusty on the inside, but I think it’s salvageable i’ll deal with that on a later date. The main issue i have is the burners, the spindles feel gritty and janky. I managed to figure out to remove one of the spindles but the only reason i think it moved without taking the rack out is because it’s missing so many teeth. I am in the process of trying to make a tool to unscrew the jets and remove the racks for inspection. but I am quite concern about the spindle in the photo i have uploaded as it does not appear to be saveable. Are there place or people in Australia that are able to repair or make these spindles? or is everyone just using up what was originally made? looking forward to sorting this old girl out
@JustinK A fine old stove there Justin. I’m no authority on Aladdin stuff but the spindle looks to be a dead ringer for an Optimus one, which are readily available. Someone who knows for sure, like @Tony Press or @Sedgman will confirm. Cheers, John
@JustinK Can you photograph the spindle on some graph paper, or next to a mm ruler, or even a rough sketch? Then I can match it up with known spindles. I don’t think you should try to use that one. Cheers Tony
