Hi all, last month Dutchmike send me this early N°5 primus, missing one leg, and its unusual burner cap. Sorry to say, it still misses one leg ! But I am on the look-out for one. I did succeed in making a replacement for the missing cap for its burner (see also the fettling section). After some polishing (I hope one of our friendly and always helpfull mods can place a link to the photo's in Mike's original post on the Stove Forum; early silent burner primus N°5 ) and replacing pumpcup (Sefa quality products), nrv-pip(home made), heat resistant washer (Kerophile's best) and a new nipple, I fired it up today. It started burning happily straight away, this is a dream-stove! Only problem, the pressure drop quickly, most probably by the tube the release valve sits in, as it rotates when closing the valve. Will be solved very soon! 8) Enjoy! Regards, Wim
When taking the above photo's I realised I should have taken one of the bottom, showing the maker's mark BEFORE filling it with paraffin! As I had to do a bit more soldering and therefor had to empty it, I took a photo of the bottom first. As the soldering was OK, no more leaks, I could also take a few more photo's in the dark, showing how well it burns. It performs fantastically! This is certainly going to be one of my favourites and will be used frequently. Regards, Wim
