    Hi all,

a few weeks ago I found an old juwel 34 stove on a well known auction site.

I already own two Juwel 34s but something caught my eye: The fount looked like a Juwel 33 fount and the spindle was facing downwards :-k

So I bought the device (for cheap :content:) and awaited the package...

The stove arrived in this condition and didn't fire up, no matter how often I primed.

So I began the dissasemble and the problem became apparent: The whole vapourizer was full of carbon.

After a few nights in acetone and pricking with a thin wire I cleaned up the vaporizer and began working on the other parts.

Fount without paint / paint cured in the oven:

    New wick and cleaned brass:

Finished project and obligatory test fire:

A few observations / differences between this and a later Juwel 34:
    - Spindle facing downwards
    - Fount seam crimped instead of welded
    - Jet is not hexagonal, rather like a primus jet
    - Stamping MPA 1/49 on the side
    - Smaller burner bell

I can't fathom why but somehow this Juwel is a lot more powerfull than the newer ones, albeight it doesn't simmer as well:

Are those crimps or successive spotwelds?

Sadly the previous owner covered the whole stove in a thick layer of cheap black paint. While stripping the black paint I found remnants of a very dark blue (looked almost greenish/black).

The windshield and filler cap seem to be of a later model. As you can see in the pictures it is the later model with the flat steel pot stand, not the earlier wire pot stand.

As the previous owner included uncommon spare parts (packing nut, spindle, two different jets (one 'primus style', one hexagonal)) we can assume that previous owner cannibalised multiple juwel stoves. Overall condition indicates that the stove was a 'beater' which saw excessive use.

Could bei either, but I would assume a crimp.

Other differences between this and a common juwel 34: The priming cup is wider and deeper. Also the filler cap sits much higher above the tank.

Just for fun: Juwel family portrait.
(front to back: 34 early, 34 common, 84). Still looking for a 33 and a late GOK Model to complete the story.
