Your video was useful. With these stoves there is not a great deal of travel in the control to begin with, but yours is definitely wrong. Too bad about the control issue -- but it may explain the cherry appearance of an older stove. No guarantee, but it might be an easy fix.

These are relatively easy to work on, the key is also tool for removing both the jet and the control spindle. I'd first remove the jet and remove the needle block. It might just need to be reset. With it removed, if you find the control now turns, you could replace the jet and bell and test the stove -- if so inclined. If it works without the block, replace the needle block correctly (according to Bernie Dawg) and you may be good to go.
    Good luck.

Your Optimus 8R looks great. The paint looks brand new. Very often it is scratched away in many places and full of rust.

Maybe it is an easy fix. Just try to loosen up the control spindle first. I think that is easier than removing the needle. Only thing is that you might loosen up the control spindle too much. Then small flames will come out of it. Then just tighten the spindle up again.

Fill your tank to 3/4 full (official Instructions for that sized tank say 2/3 full).

Having an accurate volume measure is fine, but in the field a stick is often far more useful.

How much fuel in an 8R

Official printed Instructions give the tank a volume of 130mm.

The Reference Library is very useful here at CCS. And the search function is also very good.

    Cheers
