I was dragged to Shrewsbury yesterday to spend lots of money and spotted a second hand emporium and had to take a look. I am after a nice bevel/mitre gauge and also always on the look out for lathe gouges. Instead what I found was this: I’m guessing it is a late one? It wasn’t particularly expensive and I see the occasional unfired stove on here and think, Why don’t I ever see anything like that? I had to get it. The NRV was stuck but a few pumps freed it off and now I get a reassuring hiss when the pressure is released. I think I will find a shelf for it.
Hi Hugh, Lovely un-used Stove. The label allows fairly accurate dating as it was manufactured by Optimus in early to mid 1960s. https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/primus-no-96.16212/#post-163255 Best Regards Kerophile.
@Hugh_Manatee A great score there, finding unfired examples is getting harder to find now well done there
This seems a little odd maybe, but I like the vintage box, too. Advertisers and marketers discovered long ago that red and yellow in particular catch the eye compared with more subdued colors. The artwork is kinda neat. They really are a time capsule.
Great find- agree with the thoughts about the box artwork- already a 'vintage' design when this stove was produced!
