Response to fuels

I finally got the pump and check valve working on my 111b. Thanks to all here who helped out. It went with us on our over-night this weekend. As I was burning a slightly different fuel than normal, I thought I'd share...

I normally burn Coleman (yes, Alaska is in the USA and Coleman is pretty cheap) and have been working on one can of of it for the past 8 years (or so..see, I don't get out much any more). In the past couple of weeks, I've been using straight naphtha to clean some camera shutters and decided that I may as well keep the "used" solvent as stove fuel. So for this trip, I used 75% Coleman and 25% straight naphtha. The exhaust fumes were much less pleasant than I have ever experienced with straight Coleman. It burned just fine, but I sure didn't smell right.

We were boiling drinking and cooking water (from an ice filled lake) so we burned quite a bit of fuel. Next trip, I think I'll be filling the stove tank with 100% Coleman.
