Actually was going to fettle my Primus 210 last evening. When I opened up the case, this is what I saw:

    1.jpg

Kerosene was actually coming out of the NRV. The pump tube had fuel in it. Emptied the remaining kero, took my tool to it, to remove it, but it wasn't going anywhere, haha. So, I lubed it up, and put it away for a later date. I also broke out my Radius 21 and oiled it up too:

    2.jpg

So I switched to the 00, to see how stuck the NRV was in it:

    3.jpg

As cruddy as it was, it came right out:

    4.jpg

A shot down the tube. I found that my phone works well for such shots:

    5.jpg

@Tony Press told me of this trick, to not use a screwdriver to take the NRV apart. Worked out great. Thanks Tony:

    6.jpg

    Old pip:

    7.jpg

Apart. Before I took it apart, as you can see, I cleaned it up:

    8.jpg

    New pip in:

    9.jpg

    Assembled:

    10.jpg

New lead washer with anti-seize applied:

    11.jpg

Safe and sound back home. I left the photo big, so when you click on it, you can really see down the tube:

    12.jpg

The leather cup was in good shape...

    13.jpg

...so I didn't replace it, just let it soak in oil while I finished the rest up:

    14.jpg

Gaskets were hard, and it took a bit to heat it up to come out:

    15.jpg

    18.jpg

Time to replace the lead washer in the burner. Anyone know a good trick to removing these?

    19.jpg

I use my brass pick to get it out in pieces:

    20.jpg

This is what it ultimately looks like:

    21.jpg

    Cleaned up:

    22.jpg

New installed. I just slowly screw it in to the fount to seat it. Any better way of doing it?

    23.jpg

    Replacing the pump:

    24.jpg

    25.jpg

These kits from the Fettlebox are awesome. I still have the burner seals, fuel cap seal, and leather cup ready in case I need them at a later date:

    26.jpg

Adding kero. I didn't realize the spirit cup was so cruddy until I went through my photos last night. It wasn't my intention to polish this stove up, as it has a nice, even patina forming on it:

    27.jpg

    The prime:

    28.jpg

    Then she came to life:

    29.jpg

    30.jpg

    Some shots in the dark:

    32.jpg

    33.jpg

    34.jpg

I noticed when flipping through photos last night, that the last three photos were sort of sequential in the way they were taken, so I made an animation of them:

    34a.gif

Overhead shot. Can't get too close:

    35.jpg

About as low as I could get the flame without it going out:

    36.jpg

    Pressured it back up:

    37.jpg

I can see why you guys like you 00's, haha. This thing is a fire breathing dragon!

    38.jpg

    39.jpg

The wife wanted her coffee this morning in her French press, and I still had the stove set up to cool down last night, so used it as an opportunity to heat some water. Priming:

    40.jpg

Had my stop watch handy. Was curious to see how long it took to boil a cup and a half of water. Yes, I need a new screen protector:

    41.jpg

    Roared to life:

    42.jpg

    Pan on:

    43.jpg

    44.jpg

Started seeing bubbles after only a few minutes:

    45.jpg

    46.jpg

    47.jpg

A slow boil in a little over three minutes:

    48.jpg

    49.jpg

And a rolling boil in 3 minutes and 26 seconds. Impressive! The 00 is a freaking roaring beast:

    50.jpg

    51.jpg

As usual, had a blast fettling another stove. Look forward to doing more. The 00 is one impressive little stove. Thanks for looking.

Great post and great photos, I had problems with my 210 and the NRV leaking around the (now mangled) lead washer and I did not have another one, so I wrapped some plumbers PTFE tape around the thread in the correct direction and included a kind of stepped bit of the wrap as a kid of washer.

Still working after several uses and not leaking yet.

Thanks man. I don't think I'll have any problem after it soaks a bit on the 210. I didn't try overly hard, could just tell it wasn't as easy as the other s have been.

Thanks Alex, appreciate it. I have a photo viewing program called FastStone Maxview. I use the scrolling wheel on the mouse to go from photo to photo. That's how I noticed the three photos at slightly different angles all together. It looked like an animation when scrolling. Added the three photos to GIMP, saved as a .gif. About all there is to it.

Thanks man. Have heard that many times over the years. I just have a little Sony instamatic I use. Then I enhance the photos in GIMP. I do want to purchase a higher end camera one of these days, but that would dig into my stove purchasing money, haha.

That one looked fine as it was, rarely do they need replacing in my experience.
    Good fettle.

Thanks man. When I get the kits from the Fettlebox, I go ahead and replace everything for the most part. Sometimes I don't change the burner washers, unless they leak. Also, if the pump leather is in good shaie, I see no need to replace it.

    @The Warrior

I bought an 00 some time ago, and I haven’t really used it because the burner washers leak something fierce. Though they were new when I bought the stove and first lit it,,, and they leaked. No amount of tightening since has changed their attitude.

Today I finally have it apart, and “new” new gaskets to put in it. Just need to reassure myself it’s just gasket to metal, and no need for Miracle Goo to do what the gasket can’t?

I’m thinking the fit wasn’t tight when I bought it, I didn’t check as I should have, and the leaks at the onset buggered those gaskets so they wouldn’t seal properly later. Anyway, when I took them out a bit ago, one crumbled out in pieces, and the other came in two pieces, hamburger bun style...

I just use the gaskets from the fettlebox, no need for anything else. I do clean both surfaces very well before replacing the gaskets.

    Thank you,,,

I cleaned the surfaces,,, and cobbled it back together,,, snugged the burner together not too harshly. Now I need to dread lighting it for a while, but I’ll give it a go in a bit.

I replaced all the seals on my 45, and fired it up, and it never leaked. Took it to my cabin, and it did leak a bit. Nothing a snugging up didn't fix though. I'm always afraid of over tightening.

I tried to not over tighten these new gaskets,,, gets a mite darker in the back porch, so I can see any leaks/flames a bit clearer, I’ll give it a light... Fingers crossed of course...
