Being in the mountains, I really like camping along the Lost Coast section. Last trip I did with a friend and his girlfriend was shortly after I retired 5 years ago, camped right on the beach, a nice log near to sit on while cooking. Loved it!

    Howdy, @freediver !

WOW!! What a wonderful tale of stove discovery, and resurrection!! AS you found, those old Coleman stoves are incredibly tough! Long ago, I bought my first Coleman Model 500, made in 1947, and though not as bad off as yours was, mine certainly needed some help. You can see the story of my "Mexican Coleman" here, if you would like to:

    B '47 Speedmaster 500

The Model 500 Speedmaster is a flat-out fantastic stove, and it's very satisfying to see yours come back from the dead, and work so very well! Thanks for all the great photos, too, so we can all enjoy your excellent triumph, vicariously! Very well done! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

    Thanks Haggis!
I did that Lost coast trip once too and about 5 years ago. We went around this time of year and saw a lot of whales. It is a nice place to camp.

Thank you @Doc Mark . I checked out your Mexican 500. That is a good story.

@hikerduane trying again with my picture.....and I totally agree with Duane, hanging on the coast is a rush when you live in the mountains! IMG_1517[1].JPG
